Q: I have a prescription for Timoptol Unit Dose 0.5% ophthalmic solution 0.2ml unit dose, and I seem to be having trouble obtaining the product from the wholesaler is there a stock shortage?

A: Timoptol Unit Dose 0.5% ophthalmic solution 0.2ml 30 unit dose was discontinued at the end of July 2018. There are no other unit dose Timoptol ophthalmic solution products available in the UK.

A suitable alternative would be:

• Eysano 5mg/ml eye drops (Aspire Pharma Ltd) 5ml container, please note that this is NOT a unit dose form.

If the prescription is written generically it would have to be changed from:

• Timoptol 0.5% eye drops 0.2ml unit dose preservative free

 to

• Timoptol 5mg/ml eye drops preservative free

The only other option would be a special order.
